Four Fights Failed Surprise Drugs Test At Bellator 127

Rumors a few weeks back that the California State Athletic Commission had surprised Bellator 127’s fighters by administering drugs tests for all 22 fighters on the card appear to have been true.

According to Sherdog.com today, NSAC have announced that four fighters, Keith Berry, Nick Moghaddam, Rob Emerson, and Fernando Gonzalez failed their drug tests at the event.

Keith Berry is a veteran of a number of promotions including Strikeforce, King Of The Cage and the WEC. He was making his fifth appearance in the Bellator cage on October 3rd where he defeated Joe Pacheco by split decision in the prelims.

Afterwards Berry tested positive for elevated levels of testosterone and marijuana and his fight with Pacheco will now be altered to a ‘no-contest’ ruling.

Nick Moghaddam is a journeyman who picked up his fourth loss in a row at the event with a decision loss to Ray Sloan and was then found to also have elevated levels of testosterone and marijuana in his system.

Former UFC fighter Rob Emerson was on a five fight winning streak heading into Bellator 127, but lost by unanimous decision on the main card to Rafael Silva before testing positive for prescription drug Modafinil, a “vigilance promoting drug” that’s supposed to be used to treat narcolepsy, but has been abused as a performance enhancer.

Finally, Fernando Gonzales claimed a big name TKO victory over Karo Parisyan in the co-main event in under two minutes, but was then found to have cannabinoids in his system.
