FOX Will Produce A ‘UFC’s Road To The Octagon’ Special For ‘UFC On FOX 4

FOX will throw their weight behind the next ‘UFC On FOX’ event on August 4th by producing their own ‘UFC’s Road To The Octagon’ special which will air on the station on July 29th at 2pm ET.

The show will offer up an hour-long preview of the upcoming event’s big fights including the headliner featuring Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua Vs Brendan Vera.

This is the first time FOX will have used this format to promote an event likes this and it will be interesting to see how much it differs from the standard ‘Countdown To UFC’ and ‘UFC Primetime’ series that the UFC generally roll out to hype up big events like this.

‘UFC On FOX’ events have so far had mixed fortunes in terms of TV ratings, with the first event starting strongly with 5.7 million viewers, but having since drastically to just 2.4 million for ‘UFC On FOX 3’.

There’s a number of reasons for that, not least of all the star power of the fighters involved on the cards, but there’s also been a noticeable drop in the promotional push that FOX have been offering for the shows so it’s good to see them making some kind of an effort to ramp that back up again here.

FOX have also confirmed that the new show will return again for the final ‘UFC On FOX’ event of the year in December so it appears to be something that may become a regular feature in the future.
