At last weekend’s hugely successful UFC Fan Expo, former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir took time out from promoting his new Suffer brand to talk with RawVegas.
Since his loss to Shane Carwin there had been rumors he may be facing Roy Nelson, the TUF 10 winner now being lined up with Junior Dos Santos, it’s still uncertain what comes next for Mir.
While he doesn’t reveal who his next opponent will be, Mir says that he knew it wasn’t going to be Nelson.
“Yeah, you know I was hearing lots of that, it’s funny I heard that from the fans but I was told differently at the beginning so obviously we can’t talk about what’s coming up for us you know until the office releases and stuff. But, yeah, even when people were asking me I knew that I wasn’t in Roy’s future before dos Santos.”
From his comments it seems as if Mir may know who he is going to face. With Nelson and Dos Santos now out of the picture, Lesnar Vs Carwin fighting for the title and Cain Velasquez lying in wait to fight the winner, all indications are that a rematch with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira could well be on the cards.
