A rematch between heavyweight stars Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira has been slated for UFC 140 on December 10th.

The two men first met at UFC 92 in December of 2008 and Mir was the clear winner on that occasion, becoming the first man ever to TKO the Brazilian.

Nogueira has since downplayed the loss, blaming a staph infection which left him hospitalized just weeks before the fight was due to take place as the real reason for his disappointing performance.

Since then ‘Big Nog’ has often campaigned for a rematch and he’s finally been given his wish after a triumphant return to action after an 18 month layoff at UFC 134 last month in which he KO’d Brendan Schaub.

“Both men are known as two of the premier submission specialists in the division but have shown dangerous striking skills as well,” Dana White stated as the fight was announced.

Mir Vs Nogueira is the latest in a number of exciting announcements in the heavyweight division, with current champion Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos set to fight in November at the first UFC on FOX event, while Brock Lesnar will welcome Alistair Overeem to the Octagon on December 30th.
