‘Frankie Edgar: In The Moment’ To Air In The Lead Up To UFC 130

UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will be the focus of the second ‘In The Moment’ show on Spike TV prior to his title fight with Gray Maynard at UFC 130 on May 28th.

The show will give an intimate look at Edgar’s preparations in the build-up to the rematch, told from the fighter’s perspective.

The first edition of ‘In The Moment’ aired in February, focusing on Jon Jones prior to his title fight with Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua at UFC 126, drawing 555,000 viewers.

The decision to put the spotlight on Edgar this time around is a good one. While Edgar has successfully defeated long-time champion BJ Penn twice and defended his belt on two occasions, he’s still perhaps an under-appreciated talent amongst the UFC fan base.

He is starting to come into his own as a champion however, showing a gutsy display against Maynard back in January to come back from what looked like certain defeat, while outside the Octagon he also took a prominent role in a recent UFC press conference aimed at helping to highlight the promotion’s ongoing battle to become sanctioned in New York.

One prominent fan Edgar does have is UFC president Dana White, and he’ll no doubt be hoping that the increased attention that comes from the ‘In The Moment’ show can help take the champion to the next level.

“I honestly would have to say the most underrated, under-appreciated guy out there is Frankie Edgar,” White said recently in an interview on the UFC Insider show. “But that might have all changed after his last fight with Gray Maynard. We’ll see next time he fights. I think Frankie Edgar is an incredible fighter. I think he’s dangerous to everybody at 155-pounds, no matter how much bigger they are than him and even though he could fight at a weight class below, I think the kid’s a beast.”

“Frankie Edgar: In The Moment” will air on Wednesday, 25th May, prior to the “Countdown To UFC 130” show on Spike TV.
