Yesterday this month’s UFC 130 card suffered a major blow when the headline title fight between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard was removed due to both fighters being injured.

The good news is that neither fighter is likely to be out for long, with Edgar’s rib and back injuries, plus Maynard’s knee problem expected to clear up within 6-8 weeks.

That will no doubt come as a relief to the promotion given that both their light-heavyweight and heavyweight champions are already sidelined through injury as it is.

The word is that the UFC are now set to pencil in the title rematch – the third fight between the two over the course of their UFC careers – for sometime around August or September, placing it around the time of either UFC 133 in Philidelphia or UFC 135 in Denver.
