Former UFC fighter Keith Jardine cut a dejected figure post-fight at Shark Fights 13 after suffering his fifth straight loss.
“Something’s wrong. I just keep having close decisions, things like that. I just keep coming up a little bit short. It’s getting pretty frustrating right now I got to tell ya,” a disappointed Jardine stated at the post-fight press conference.
Later in an interview with sherdog.com Jardine pinpointed a slow start as his major failing in the fight.
“I just had a pretty slow start actually. You know I never make excuses for my fights but coming out before this fight I had the worst migraine in the world. It took me actually two rounds to get through that. Everything he was touching me with hurt man, I was in a bad situation there. I tried gritting it out in the third round, my head kind of cleared up and things worked out well in that round, but I guess not well enough to win the fight.”
Personally I would point to Jardine’s notoriously weak chin as an important factor in his loss, but the fighter himself shrugs off the fact that he was rocked by a knee from Prangley in the first round.
“I was slightly off-balance and it was slightly what he did…a slight combination of both, but it didn’t really stun me that bad,” he told Sherdog’s Loretta Hunt.
Despite now not having picked up a win for almost two years the 34 year-old has no plans to retire at this stage.
“I’m just going to keep fighting and see what happens,” he said.
