If plans for Strikeforce’s final show of the year in December come off then it’s going to be an event not to be missed.

The latest big-name fighter to be linked to the end of year extravaganza is former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi.

Since losing his title to Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal in April of last year Mousasi has quickly got back to winning ways, claiming the DREAM light-heavyweight GP and then successfully defending his title earlier this year. His only fight for Strikeforce since then however has been a controversial split decision draw with former UFC star Keith Jardine, a fight many people believed he should have won.

With current 205lb champ Dan Henderson believed to be contemplating a move to the UFC, Mousasi’s next fight could either become a battle for the vacant belt, or a No.1 contender bout depending on how things pan out.

So far no oppnnent has been announced for Mousasi however. Other fighters on tap for December 17th are believed to be lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez who’ll take on Jorge Masvidal, plus woman’s 145lb title holder Cris ‘Cyborg’ Santos, Gina Carano and Keith Jardine making his 185lb debut.
