One major absentee from this past weekend’s Strikeforce: Overeem Vs Werdum event was Gina Carano who had to pull out of her fight due to a mystery ailment.
There’s been much speculation about what exactly is wrong with the female MMA superstar, but while that information has still yet to be divulged, it appears that it’s not going to keep her out of action for long.
Speaking after the event in Dallas on Saturday night Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker revealed that he had received a text message from Carano’s manager during the show which gave a positive update on her condition.
“Gina is feeling much better after having undergone some medical attention and is looking forward to getting back into training very soon. She would like to express thanks to Team Jackson for a wonderful training camp, Strikeforce, and the fans,” the message read.
So it appears as if Carano may well still make her long awaited return in 2011 after all which is good news for Strikeforce who could certainly use her star power in one of their forthcoming events.
