Once again Strikeforce are planning to end the year with a bang, and rumor has it that female superstar Gina Carano could take part on the card.

So far what we do know is that Strikeforce’s 17th December show will feature a title fight between current lightweight champ Gilbert Melendez and Jorge Masvidal which has all the makings of an all-out war.

According to a report from The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer Carano has also been earkmarked to make her long awaited return to the cage.

Carano was originally scheduled to appear back in June, but less than a fortnight prior to the bout she pulled out after not getting medical clearance to fight.

It’s never been revealed what the medical issue was, but a statement from her management team later confirmed that she was now fit to resume training and hoped to fight again soon.

At this stage it’s not clear who her opponent will be, but one potential challenger who stands out from the crowd is Strikeforce’s newest 145lb addition Ronda Rousey who pulled off a 25 second submission win in her promotional debut earlier this month.

The 24 year-old Judokan is tipped to be one of the stars of the future in female MMA and a fight with Carano would undoubtedly take her to the next level.
