Female MMA superstar Gina Carano had been widely tipped to fight at Strikeforce’s end of year event in December, but it’s now been confirmed that will not be the case.
Instead Carano’s fighting future continues to remain a mystery almost two and a half years since she last competed in the cage.
Back in April of this year the 29 year-old had revealed on live television during a Strikeforce event that she was going to return in June, but just weeks removed from the fight she mysteriously withdrew from the card citing an undisclosed medical problem.
Some time later her management released a statement confirming that she still intended to return to action later in the year, but it appears those plans changed and she’ll now go another full year without competing.
So far Carano herself has stayed silent on the matter, though what is known is that her much-delayed big screen acting debut in Steven Soderbergh’s ‘Haywire’ will finally get a cinema release on January 20th.
Meanwhile fans of female MMA will have to make do with the long awaited return of the last woman to defeat Carano, Cris ‘Cyborg’ Santos on December 17th when she defends her Strikeforce title against Hiroko Yamanaka.
