Tonight Georges St.Pierre sat cage-side at UFC 137 and watched Nick Diaz dismantle BJ Penn and then call him out.

Before the night was out Dana White had confirmed that Diaz had now been reinstalled as his next opponent with the bout expected to headline the UFC’s Las Vegas show on Superbowl Weekend in February of 2012.

According to White the Canadian had “flipped out” at comments Diaz made about him faking his current injury and had told the UFC president that he wanted to fight him next.

Later St.Pierre himself revealed that he now can’t wait to fight the outspoken fighter.

“This is what I wanted since the beginning. Let’s do what was supposed to be done originally. I’ve always wanted this fight. Now I want it even more. I can’t wait for Superbowl weekend,” Showdown Joe reports the champion as having said.

The infuriated champion also told White backstage that Diaz is, “the most disrespectful person I’ve ever met in my life and I’m going to put the worst beating you’ve ever seen on him in the UFC.”

Of course GSP and Diaz were originally set to fight this evening before Diaz was pulled from the title fight for failing to attend a number of media engagements.

While that seemed a disastrous event at the time it’s all worked out in the end as there’s now more heat than ever behind an encounter between the two best fighters in the 170lb weight class.
