In his last fight Georges St.Pierre disposed of former Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields, and in his next fight at UFC 137 which was made official yesterday, he’ll have the chance to also defeat the current Strikeforce welterweight title holder Nick Diaz.

Giving his first reaction to the match-up GSP made it clear to The Canadian Press that while Diaz had been the one calling for the fight, it was a challenge that he was only to happy to accept.

“I’m excited,” St-Pierre said, “because it’s been a long time he’s been talking about me, saying like he’s the best, he was saying I was avoiding him and stuff. But I never avoid anybody.”

And now that Diaz has got the fight GSP says it’s time for Diaz to put up or shut up.

“Now it’s time to walk the walk. It’s going to be a good fight.””

Technically if GSP wins then he could lay claim to having unified the UFC and Strikeforce welterweight titles, but that’s not something that interests the 30 year-old.

“Right now I’m champion. I don’t care about fighting for a title. I care about fighting the name and Nick Diaz, he’s the guy to beat right now. He’s the guy that a lot of people rank him even No. 1 so that’s why I want to fight him.”
