In news that many have been predicting, Canadian superstar Georges St.Pierre will defend his welterweight title against Jake Shields at UFC 129 in Toronto on April 30th.

Yahoo! Sports Kevin Iole confirmed the heavily rumored fight with Dana White last night following UFC 125 event.

St.Pierre will be looking for his sixth successful title defense in a row in front of what’s expected to be a record breaking event in Ontario, while former Strikeforce middleweight champion Shields has a fifteen fight winning streak to protect.

Last night it also emerged that Randy Couture Vs Lyoto Machida is currently being negotiated for the co-main event slot on the same card.

UFC officials have estimated that the event at the Rogers Center could play host to between 25,000 – 40,000 fans, smashing both their worldwide attendance and gate records.
