Following this evening’s UFC 137 event Dana White confirmed that Nick Diaz will leap-frog Carlos Condit to become the next man to face UFC welterweight champion Georges St.Pierre.

After an extremely impressive performance against BJ Penn tonight the former Strikeforce welterweight champion left everyone in no doubt that he is the real deal.

Talking to Joe Rogan immediately after the fight Diaz took the opportunity to call out GSP, and there’s no doubt that it’s now the fight everyone wants to see. There was one catch however – White had earlier in the week guaranteed that Condit would be getting the next title shot.

Things were clearly afoot backstage following the show however with White having to leave the post-fight presser to take a phone call only to return 10 minutes later and Diaz only arriving to the media gathering five minutes after that.

White teased the press by waiting until the end of the press conference before confirming that Diaz will now get his wish to fight St.Pierre.

“Diaz needs motivation. He’s got it, he’s going to fight GSP,” White stated.

He went on to reveal that after Diaz told the crowd tonight that he believed the Canadian was simply faking his recent injury because he was too scared to fight St.Pierre “flipped out” and now wants to fight him as soon as possible.

“He is the most disrespectful person I have ever met,” GSP is reported to have said.

According to White they hope to have GSP Vs Diaz fight on Superbowl weekend in Las Vegas, and Condit, who has agreed to step aside for Diaz, apparently wants to fight on the same card.

You have to feel for Condit in this situation as he’s been gauranteed a life-changing fight and then had it taken away from him, but there’s no doubt that after witnessing tonight’s event GSP Vs Diaz is as big a fight as the promotion can put on at this moment in time.
