HDNet has furthered it’s commitment to combat sports by snapping up the rights to leading European kickboxing promotion ‘It’s Showtime’.

The multi-year deal begins with immediate effect and will cover 10 events over the course of 2011 alone.

This is a significant deal for fans of kickboxing in the U.S, particularly with K-1’s parent company FEG currently suffering financial difficulties, making their long-term future somewhat uncertain.

For those unfamiliar with the promotion, a quick look at ‘It’s Showtime’s’ event this very evening in Lyon, France will give you an indication of why this is a company worth paying attention to.

On the card are a number of the great and the good of the Kickboxing fraternity, including Badr Hari returning to action in the main event, while the likes of Tyrone Spong and Giorgio Petrosyan are also on the card.

Unfortunately due to the fact the deal has just been signed tonight’s event won’t air live, but it will be aired next Friday evening at 11pm E.T.

HDNet have made themselves a force to be reckoned with over the past few years with their aggressive approach to airing combat sports, and in particular MMA content. Their current programming includes the flagship ‘Inside MMA’ weekly show hosted by Bas Rutten, ‘Fighting Words With Mike Straka’, and ‘The Voice Versus.’ series, plus regular events from promotions like DREAM, K-1, MFC, and Titan FC amongst others.
