Herschel Walker may be 48 years old, but the man can definitely still bring it in the cage as he proved tonight with a first round demolition of Scott Carson.

Walker appeared to get fired up in the opening seconds of the bout after Carson threw a head kick. Rather than give the former NFL superstar pause for thought it made him press forward aggressively and that paid dividends when he landed a clipping left hook which knocked Carson to the ground.

From there it was all Walker as he worked from top control and before long he had Carson turtling up as he threw punches, one of which knocked Carson’s mouthpiece out.

Carson struggled to get back up, only to be thrown back to the floor by Walker. Finally rolling out from underneath him, Carson briefly manages to get to his feet only to be met with several short punches from Walker that slump him to the canvas, prompting the referee to dive in and bring the match to a close.

Tonight’s performance shows that Walker does have some power in his punches and is as strong as his physique suggests. Carson looked out of his depth here though, so perhaps it would be wise not to read too much into Walker’s skills until he faces a more skilled adversary.
