Humor Brightens Up The UFC 105 Pre-Fight Press Conference

Often pre-fight press conferences can be fairly serious affairs, but on this occasion there was some room for a little light relief.

Renowned trash-talker Dan Hardy was the first to lighten the mood when he stepped up to the mic during the fighter introductions.

“I actually got Mike (Swick) a little something so he didn’t leave England empty handed, and just something to remember his journey – I got him a runners-up trophy,” he quipped, before handing him a trophy. “Just so he didn’t leave empty handed…I’m going to be busy after the fight answering questions and sorting out a game-plan for Georges St.Pierre.”

Taking the jibe in good humor Mike Swick stepped up to the podium and thanked Hardy for the trophy.

“It means a lot,” he said. “Coming second up in a press conference is pretty cool, but I just want everybody to know that I’m gonna give this right back to him after our fight. My corner guys will carry this to the octagon.”

Next up was Brandon Vera and, clearly having spoken to the UK fans before going on stage, he said during his introduction, “I’m supposed to say something like I’m the “dogs bollocks” but I don’t know what that means!”

He needn’t have worried, it’s UK slang for being the best.

Later on a British journalist mischievously asked Michael Bisping if he was in line to be the next James Bond after he beat Daniel Craig in a ‘coolest man in Britain’ award.

Looking embarrassed by the question, Bisping laughed it off saying, “No it’s not, moving swiftly on Damien. Who gave him the microphone?”
