WEC are putting together a mouthwatering card for WEC 51 on September 30th, and it’s just become even more stacked with the news that it will feature the long awaited rematch between Jamie Varner and Donald Cerrone.
Varner himself revealed the news on his own website today.
“So my next fight will be a rematch with Donald Cerrone I hope to be the co-main sept 30. So any questions that were left after the last fight will be answered sept 30!” – Jamie Varner
The two lightweight fighters previous ‘Fight Of The Night’ encounter back in January 2009 was a controversial one. Varner, who held the belt at the time fought with Cerrone for the best part of five rounds before an unintentional knee on the ground from ‘Cowboy’ left Varner unable to continue.
The 3.02mins left on the clock the fight went to the scorecards where Varner was awarded a technical split decision victory. There has been bad blood between the two fighters since, and now they will finally get the chance to settle their differences in the cage.
WEC 51 looks set to be a fantastic night of fights all round with Jose Aldo Vs Manny Gamburyan headlining, while the likes of Miguel Torres, The Korean Zombie and Leonard Garcia also on the card.
