Yesterday Jeff Curran was unveiled as a new addition to the UFC’s bantamweight roster, and the veteran fighter already has his first fight lined up.
And there’s to be no easy first fight for the 33 year-old as he’s been paired up with former No.1 contender Scott Jorgensen at UFC 137 on October 29th.
Jorgensen got his UFC career off to a winning start last month with an impressive first round KO victory over Ken Stone taking his record to 12-4. His only loss in his last seven fights came to current champion Dominick Cruz in the WEC’s final event back in December.
That makes him a daunting challenge for Curran who’s previous stint in the WEC back in 2007-2009 ended with four defeats, two of which came at the hands of fighters Jorgensen has a close association with, Urijah Faber and Joseph Benavidez.
