Joe ‘Daddy’ Stevenson Suffered Another Loss At The Weekend (Video)

The rapid descent of long-time UFC veteran and TUF season 2 winner Joe ‘Daddy’ Stevenson has been quite something to behold, and it continued on Saturday night in his first fight outwith the promotion in almost seven years.

Stevenson took on Dakota Cochrane at RFA 3 in Nebraska and succumbed to a second round rear-naked choke submission after being rocked on the feet with a flying knee.

The defeat came a day after ‘Daddy’ had missed weight for his return to lightweight after a short stint at featherweight, coming in 5lbs over the limit which lead to him giving up 25% of his purse to his opponent.

In all this is Stevenson’s fifth defeat in a row, by far the worst run of his long career, leaving him with a record of 31-15.

If it’s any consolation to him, he’s not the first well known UFC fighter that his opponent (who’s perhaps best known for admitting to past in pornography prior to an unsuccessful attempt to fight his way onto the TUF: Live’ show). Cochrane also earned a unanimous decision victory over Jamie Varner last year.

Varner contemplated retirement afterwards but has since rebounded with two victories before earning a call-back to the UFC where he went on to pull off a major upset by defeating the highly touted Edson Barboza.

Perhaps Stevenson can draw some inspiration from that as he looks to rebuild his own career.
