The UFC’s return to the UK in November for UFC 138 suffered a blow today when local favorite John Hathaway was forced to pull out of his encounter with Matt Brown due to an injury.

The fight had been intended to form part of the main card for the Birmingham show, but now both fighters have been removed from it entirely, with Brown now set to face Seth Baczynski at UFC 139 a fortnight later.

It’s an unfortunate situation as the card, which is headlined by Chris Leben Vs Mark Munoz was already lacking in terms of recognized talent, reflecting it’s status as an event that will air free on Spike TV rather than pay-per-view.

Meanwhile another Brit, heavyweight fighter Oli Thompson won’t be making his debut on the card after he too suffered an injury. Fellow UK prospect Rob Broughton has now stepped in to replace him however against Phillip De Fries.
