Talented up and coming Canadian fighter John Makdessi has been forced out of August’s ‘UFC On Versus 5’ event due to an undisclosed injury.

On face value that’s disappointing news as his scheduled fight with the UK’s Paul Taylor looked like being one of the most fun fights on the card.

The good news however is that the UFC have stepped up with a quality replacement in the shape of Donald Cerrone. Cerrone is currently on four fight winning streak, two of which have come in the UFC after switching over from the WEC at the turn of the year.

Meanwhile Taylor bounced back after a poor run in form in February when he KO’d Gabe Ruediger. While Taylor’s 4-5 run in the Octagon is not impressive, he is known for being an exciting fighter as is shown by his three ‘Fight Of The Night’ awards. Coupled with Cerrone’s five ‘Fight Of The Night’ bonuses over at the WEC, plus a further one in the UFC, you’ve got all the making of show-stopping encounter here.

Cerrone Vs Taylor will form part of the UFC On Versus 5 (AKA UFC Live 5) fight card which takes place on August 14th in Wisconsin and features a headline bout between Dan Hardy and Chris Lytle.
