After a virtually picture-perfect 2011, Jon Jones has opted to short a planned extended vacation and is now eager to return to the Octagon as soon as possible to keep the momentum going in 2012.

Speaking on the ‘UFC On FX 1’ post-fight show on Fuel TV on Friday night the light-heavyweight champion stated that he’s interested in defending his title in April if possible.

If that’s the case then it would likely put him on the UFC 145 card on April 21st in Atlanta, an event which is currently in need of a headliner.

As for his opponent, it all hinges on the winner of next weekend’s ‘UFC On FOX 1’ main event between Rashad Evans and Phil Davis. According to Dana White, if Evans wins and is fit to take the fight then he’ll be given the next shot at Jones title.

Otherwise White has said that former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Dan Henderson is waiting in the wings and is eager to take his chance against the sport’s newest superstar.
