Jorge Rivera’s management team ‘Alchemist MMA’ have reacted angrily to Michael Bisping’s conduct during and after his victory this evening in the co-main event of UFC 127.

“For the Jorge Rivera – Michael Bisping fight – the knee was illegal and flush on the face. But instead of taking a dive and possibly the win, Jorge fought on. Bisping tagged Jorge while BOTH of his knees were on the canvas. He wasn’t the same afterward but fought on anyway. How many fighters would be able to fight on after that?

The stoppage was quick, but we won’t fight it. He won. That’s all there is to it. But for all his talk of being a professional, Bisping spit on Rivera’s coaches when the fight was over. How can you claim to be a professional after that?”

At the post-fight press conference Bisping was asked for his reaction to the news backstage that Rivera’s team felt he had intentionally kneed Rivera in the face while he was grounded, and that he should be suspended for spitting at them after the fight.

“It’s just one classless move after another, I suppose,” Bisping stated, before denying that the knee had been intentional.

He did admit that emotions had got the better of him after the fight and apologized for his behavior, acknowledging that he should have handled it better.

Having said that he clearly doesn’t believe that he should be suspended for his actions, adding that Rivera’s camp should get over it and accept that their fighter had lost.

As yet there’s no word from UFC execs regarding whether Bisping will be punished, but the Brit did reveal that Dana White spoke with him in the Octagon and warned him to, “cool it.”
