After claiming the WEC featherweight title by defeating Mike Thomas Brown in another impressive performance, Jose Aldo Jr. has marked himself out as the next star to emerge in the sport from Brazil.
Days after his victory the media gathered to get the 23 year old champion’s thoughts on his victory, how he is reacting to the increased attention he is now getting, and to get further insight into how he came to arrive at this stage in his career.
Not yet able to speak English, Aldo was flanked at the press conference by his manager, Ed Soares who also oversees the careers of other Brazilian stars like Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida.
Soares was effusive in his praise of Aldo both as a fighter – comparing him to pound for pound great Anderson Silva in in the way he fights – and as a person, saying, “the day I met him I felt like I’d known him forever.”
