So far there’s no official word on exactly when heavyweight No.1 contender Junior Dos Santos will get his opportunity to fight current champion Cain Velasquez for the title, but according to the Brazilian in a new interview with CagePotato, he expects to face him in the Spring of 2011.
“I think the fight’s going to be in March or April, but they [haven’t given] a date yet,” Dos Santos says.
If Dos Santos is correct my best guess would be that this will end up on what’s expected to be a stacked card for the UFC’s first visit to Toronto on April 30th for UFC 129. The reason I say that is UFC 128 in March already has a major title fight planned (Shogun Vs Evans).
The UFC hope to break their attendance and gate records when they go to Toronto, and Velasquez Vs Dos Santos, along with perhaps GSP Vs Jake Shields, would certainly put them on course to do so.
Watch Dos Santos assess Velasquez skill-set and talk a little about his superstar training partners in the full interview below.
