Two former stars of The Ultimate Fighter series, Keith Jardine and Matt Hamill, will meet in the headline bout of the TUF 11 Season Finale the UFC announced today.
Jardine was a semi-finalist in season two of the show, while Hamill reached the semi-finals of season three before pulling out due to a broken nose sustained in the previous round.
Since then both fighters have gone on to become familiar faces in the UFC’s light-heavyweight division.
Hamill last fought in December, taking a one-sided beating against Jon Jones before an illegal elbow thrown by his opponent caused him to be disqualified, handing Hamill the win. It was a controversial decision, but one that leaves the former wrestler’s record showing a three fight unbeaten run.
Meanwhile Jardine has slumped to a particularly poor run of form lately that’s left him with just two victories in his last seven fights, and no wins in his last three.
After his last loss via KO to Ryan Bader there was speculation that he may be cut from the promotion, but instead the UFC have seen fit to give him a high-profile fight. That’s good news for the 34 year-old, but he must surely look upon this encounter as a must-win fight if he wishes to remain on the roster.
The Ultimate Fighter Season 11 finale is set to take place on the 19th of June in Las Vegas.
