Kenny Florian Negotiating New UFC Contract; Fights Takanori Gomi at UFN 21

In this weeks episode of MMA Live regulary co-host on the show Kenny Florian stated that he is in talks to sign a new multi-fight deal with the UFC.

“I’ve had the honor, and been blessed to start my career with the UFC and I definitely plan on finishing up their,” he confirmed.

In addition he also revealed that new UFC signing Takanori Gomi is set to be his next opponent at UFN 21.

“It looks like it’s going to be March 31st on a UFC Fight Night, I’ll be back on Spike as a main event,” the former lightweight No.1 contender stated.  “Nothing is signed yet, but that’s a fight I’ve been wanting to have for a long time.  Takanori Gomi is of course a legend in this sport, I guy I have a lot of respect for and it would just be a great, great fight for the fans.”

Florian (12-4) lost out in his ambitions to claim the lightweight title from BJ Penn last year, but rebounded with a convincing win over Clay Guida at UFC 107 in December.

Gomi meanwhile is a former lightweight champion of the PRIDE organisation, and comes to the UFC with an impressive record of 31-5 (1nc).

After losing two fights in a row in Sengoku, the 31 year-old has since went two fights unbeaten and will be hoping he can recapture the form he showed in PRIDE during the 2004-2005 period when he went ten fights unbeaten.
