If and when 34 year-old Kenny Florian decides to retire (and there’s no indication that’s going to happen anytime soon), it appears that a future in broadcasting awaits him.
Along with his regular co-hosting duties on ESPN’s MMA Live show, the lightweight fighter has previously provided color commentary for the UFC and WEC to widespread approval.
At the UFC 114 pre-fight Q&A Joe Rogan stated that if he had to pick someone to replace him alongside Mike Goldberg it would be Florian, simply stating, “I think he’s the best at it.”
Goldberg was also quick to praise the fighter, who first emerged on the original series of The Ultimate Fighter.
“Kenny’s an outstanding broadcaster, and he understands the ebb and flow of a fight. Joe (Rogan) is my partner – he always has been, and always will be – but with Kenny, it’s just seamless. He’s naturally good at it.”
Now MMAJunkie report that Florian will provide color commentary at both The Ultimate Fighter Season 11 finale on June 19th, and at WEC 49 later in the month.
Along with his increasingly hectic broadcasting schedule Florian is also currently in training for his fight with Gray Maynard at UFC 118 on August 28th.
