Since being released from the UFC after a defeat to Matt Mitrione back in May not much has been heard from Kimbo Slice, leading to speculation whether the 36 year-old would continue fighting in the sport or not.

Yesterday Kimbo’s ex-promoter and former Elite-XC head Gary Shaw hinted that the former backyard brawler might now be preparing to crossover into  different realm of fighting.

“Don’t know right now,” Shaw told when asked if he would return to promoting mixed martial arts events.  “I’m really busy in boxing, I have a lot of really big fights.  So what I might do is crossover and go to MMA and pluck a couple of their fighters, and put them in a boxing ring.”

Given his past association with Kimbo, and the fact that he’s gone on record before about his desire to have him fight in boxing, he seems like the obvious choice for such a venture.

“You said it, I didn’t,’ said Shaw with a smile when asked if Kimbo was indeed the fighter he was targeting.  “Look for some big news coming up pretty soon.”
