At the weekend it was revealed that Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion ‘King Mo’ Lawal had been brought in to help boxer James Toney train for his upcoming fight with Randy Couture at UFC 118.

Later, rumors started to emerge that Toney had in fact caught King Mo in a standing guillotine choke during their session and tapped him out. Comments from the boxer himself to the FightHype site seemed to add weight to the story.

“Mo giving me good work, but I keep telling people, I am a lot stronger than they think and I know some shit. Man… I got him in a….let him tell you. I don’t want to say too much, but I will say we put in some good work.”

Initially Lawal stayed silent on the subject, but after being hounded with questions about the rumor the former Division 1 All American wrestler finally admitted on his Facebook account that it was true.

“Yeah its true…I got tapped by Toney in training. It’s just training….no more questions!!! Lol…Subs happen,” he said.

It’s hard to say for sure whether this is in fact true, or just part of the veteran’s mind games, aiming to give Couture something to think about in the lead up to the fight.  It does however serve as a timely reminder that anything is possible in this sport and that ‘The Natural’ shouldn’t get careless when he takes on the 41 year-old in August.
