Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal showed fearsome ground and pound tonight as he stopped Lorenz Larkin on the mat with strikes at Strikeforce: Rockhold Vs Jardine.

‘King Mo’ wasted little time in revealing his early strategy for this fight by quickly securing a takedown against Larkin, dumping him to the mat with relative ease.

From there Larkin never looked like finding a way back to his feet, and unlike Tyron Woodley just minutes earlier in the cage, ‘King Mo’ had no intention of just ‘laying and praying’ – instead going straight to work with heavy ground and pound blows to the face and body.

That was how the round would continue until with a minute to go the referee made a curious decision to stand them up despite ‘King Mo’ still looking busy with strikes.

Lawal looked comfortable standing with Larkin in the remainder of the round, throwing a few shots to the body, while Larkin mustered a late flurry of strikes of his own that was too little too late to tilt the round in his favor.

Onto the second and after a brief struggle Lawal again had Larkin pinned to the canvas and was landing some powerful blows.

Larkin began to wilt under the pressure and ‘King Mo’ capitalized, landing a series of hammering right hands to the face that had his opponent on the very of unconciousness before the referee finally dived in to call an end to the fight with just 1.32mins of the second round gone.

This was a very good performance from Lawal that showed that when he plays to his strengths he’s a very dangerous man indeed.
