Knee Surgery Set To Keep King Mo Out For Nine Months

Strikeforce star King Mo will have to wait for up to nine months before having the chance to get back to winning ways after losing to Feijao on Saturday night.

The former champion’s manager Ryan Parsons told yesterday that the fighter had a check-up on Monday which revealed that he requires surgery to replace both his anterior and posterior ligaments in his left knee.

“Mo wanted to take one more fight, but we decided that this injury should be attended to first,” Parsons reveals.

Lawal is scheduled to undergo the operation next Tuesday in Los Angeles and should be ready to return to the cage in late spring / early summer of 2011.

The news leaves Strikeforce’s light-heavyweight division a little short on numbers in the mean-time, but they still have a few options to choose from to keep things moving forward.

A Dan Henderson Vs Renato Sobral fight is expected to take place in the coming months, while it would not be too much of a surprise if former champion Gegard Mousasi now steps up to challenge Feijao.
