Last Minute Replacement Required As Bellator Prepare For Their Season Premiere

Bellator Fighting Championships second season gets underway on Thursday night in the U.S. and on the eve of the show the promotion has been forced to make a last minute change to the fight card.

Finnish fighter and M-1 Challenge veteran Janne Tulirinta was all set to fight Carey Varnier in the opening round of the lightweight tournament tomorrow night, but problems with his VISA has forced him to bow out of the competition.

Luckily Bellator had an alternate on stand-by and so Joe Duarte (5-1) now steps in and has the opportunity to make a name for himself in the event which will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Net, with highlights following at a later date on both NBC and Telemundo.

The first in the weekly series of shows also features former UFC fighter Roger Huerta making his Bellator debut in the 155lb competition. See the full rundown for Bellator 13 below…
