A number of the fighters on the WEC 48: Aldo Vs Faber event were in the wars last night as they put on an entertaining night of fights for the fans.
After putting on what Joe Rogan described as, “the fight of the decade,” Leonard Garcia and Chan Sung Jung were all smiles as they posed for a picture together showing of their war wounds.
Garcia had revealed in his post-fight interview that he had broken his hand in the first round of the battle, while from the photo below it appears that ‘The Korean Zombie’ may have suffered a similar fate. Easing the pain however was the news that the two had each earned $65,000 in bonus money for the ‘Fight Of The Night’ performance.
Meanwhile Urijah Faber had to take a trip to the hospital after taking numerous heavy leg kicks during his five round fight with Jose Aldo that left him needing to be held up by his corner-men in the aftermath of the fight.
Speaking on twitter the former champion posted a picture of his badly swollen leg and noted, “Ouch! Thanks to all the fans. Aldo is one tough mofo!”
Later he posted again to say, “Reducing the swelling in an hyperbarrack chamber. 2am. Thanks for the support! See you guys soon.”
The morning after Faber continued to give updates on his condition. “Feels like my legs gonna pop. Those were some brutal leg kicks. Won’t b walking for a bit.”
He also posted up a video and a further picture later in the day.
Earlier in the night Brad ‘One Punch’ Pickett had emerged victorious in his preliminary fight with Demetrious Johnson, though he admitted in his post-fight interview that he felt he may have broken his collar-bone in the process. The UK fighter was later seen backstage with heavy strapping on the injured shoulder though no official word has emerged yet on the extent of the damage.
