Major MMA Events In October 2016

After a hectic schedule of UFC events ever week for the past couple of months, there’s a brief respite midway through the month, but don’t get used to it as things start to get crazy again next month!

Saturday, 1st October: UFC Fight Night 96 – Lineker Vs Dodson

Where: Portland, Oregon

October’s action gets underway almost immediately with UFC Fight Night 96 this evening featuring a bantamweight headliner as John Lineker and John Dodson prepare to slug it out in the Octagon.

The main card has been hit by injury woes, but former Bellator champion Will Brooks remains in the co-main event spot opposite Alex ‘Cowboy’ Oliveira.

Friday, 7th October: WSOF 33 – Gaethje Vs Dugulubgov

Where: Kansas City, USA

WSOF 33 features lightweight champion Justin Gaethje looking to extend his perfect MMA record to 17-0 against Ozzy Dugulubgov, who’s won his three last bouts in the promotion.

Meanwhile, in the co-main event David Branch fights Vinny Magalhaes for the light-heavyweight title, while Jason High takes on Joao Zeferino.

Saturday, 8th October: UFC 204 – Bisping Vs Henderson 2

Where: Manchester, England

The UFC returns to the UK on the 8th of October with hometown hero and current middleweight champion Michael Bisping out for revenge against his nemesis Dan Henderson, who says he’ll retire after the fight, win or lose.

Also on-board for this PPV card is a meaningful middleweight clash between Vitor Belfort and Gegard Mousasi, as well as Jimi Manuwa Vs Ovince St. Preux and Stefan Struve Vs Daniel Omielanczuk.

Saturday, 15th October: UFC Fight Night 97 – Penn Vs Lamas

Where: Manila, Philippines

UFC Fight 97 is set to be the landing spot for UFC legend BJ Penn’s latest comeback in a tough featherweight match-up against Ricardo Lamas.

‘The Black Beast’ Derrick Lewis will look for another hard-hitting finish in the co-main event against Marcin Tybura, and Kyoji Horiguchi will be aiming for his seventh win inside the Octagon against former flyweight title contender Ali Bagautinov.

Friday, 21st October: Bellator 162 – Shlemenko Vs Grove

Where: Memphis, USA

Alexander Shlemenko returns to Bellator on 21st October after having a three year ban from the sport lifted, and now goes up against former UFC fighter Kendall Grove.

The co-main event for this one features former pro-wrestling star Bobby Lashley in a heavyweight bout with Josh Appelt, while the late Kimbo Slice’s son Kevin Ferguson Jr makes his MMA debut against Rick Bing.
