Marcus Brimage Among Six Fighters Released By UFC With More To Come

A rumor started to spread late this week that the UFC were on the brink of cutting as many as 50 fighters from their roster, and there may be some truth to it given that six have already confirmed they’ve been released.

Perhaps the most notable name among those cut so far is Marcus Brimage who’s been with the UFC since 2011 after appearing on TUF season 14.

“Got my pink slip today, I was a pleasure working for @UFC, don’t worry I’ll be back!!!” Brimage wrote on Twitter.

Brimage made an impact initially with a three fight winning streak, defeating the likes of Maximo Blanco and Jimmy Hettes along the way, but a 2013 TKO loss to a rising star at the time, Conor McGregor followed by a long injury layoff marked the beginning of a slump in form that’s resulted in just one win in his last five fights.

Joining Brimage on his way out of the UFC are Eddie Gordon (1-3 UFC), Matt Van Buren (0-2 UFC), Christos Giagos (1-2 UFC), Roger Navarez (1-2 UFC) and Chris Clements (2-2 UFC).

If the rumor is true then we should expect to see an extended list of names emerging in the coming days who’ll now be looking for a new promotion to continue their fighting careers.
