Tito Ortiz revealed via his twitter account last night that his fight with Mark Coleman, set for UFC 106 in November has been cancelled:
“Coleman, coleman, coleman to bad he sissies out!!! Who’s next??? I’m kicking someone’s ass on Nov 21st!”
It has now been revealed that the reason for the 44 year old former champions withdrawal from the bout is due to a torn ACL.
The turn of events will leave the UFC with a headache over who to put in his place. Rashad Evans and Thiago Silva who had been all set to face off against each other early next year could provide two options, though Ortiz has previously stated that he wanted a ‘tune up fight’ for his return to the cage after an 18 month lay-off. Neither of the aforementioned fighters would fall under that category.
Another potential opponent could be Stephan Bonnar who lost to Coleman at UFC 100. It is a match-up that could be appealing for both parties. So far there has been no official word from the UFC on the matter.
