A rumored bout between former world’s strongest man Mariusz Pudzianowski and former UFC fighter Eric ‘Butterbean’ Esch has been confirmed for Polish event KSW 14 on September 15th.

Puzianowski last fought at Moosin: God Of War in May against Tim Sylvia and was soundly beaten by the ex-UFC heavyweight champion.

More recently Butterbean sent out a press release slating Pudzianowsi’s abilities in the cage, saying that he “hits like a girl.” At the time this was seen as a ploy by Esch, who is a promoter for the Moosin promotion, to generate hype for a potential match-up between the two at Moosin’s next PPV event which is rumored to be happening later in the year.

Instead it’s now becoming clear that it was in fact an early promotional push for a bout between the two in Pudzianowski’s homeland.

To my mind this fight seems a little suspicious.  Moosin still view Pudzianowski as their major star thanks in particular to his enormous following in his native Poland.  Ideally they’d like him to get back to winning ways before he returns to fight on their next PPV.  Realistically it makes no sense for Butterbean, A Moosin employee, to head over their and defeat him, denting the Pole’s credibility in the sport further.

Regardless of the underlying motives behind it there’s no doubt this is freak show MMA at it’s freakiest.
