Former two-time UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes has become the latest inductee into the UFC’s Hall Of Fame.

Hughes place in the history of the promotion was never in any doubt. Having successfully defended his belt seven times in his heyday, and at this moment in time having fought 22 times for the UFC, he is one of their most recognizable and successful champions ever.

“To be honest, it’s you guys that pay that admission that write my check, so I’ve got to take my hat off to you guys,” Hughes said as he was inducted at this weekends’ UFC fan expo in Las Vegas.

Dana White was in attendance and he was quick to pay tribute to the fighter.

“He’s acting very humble here; he’s been a great partner and been one of the people who have helped build this sport and the UFC to what it is today,”

Despite receiving this honor Hughes is not done with the UFC yet. He emerged victorious in his last outing against Renzo Gracie at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi, and is now expected to face Ricardo ‘Big Dog’ Almeida at UFC 117 in August.
