Evan Dunham and Melvin Guillard headlined this evening’s Fight For The Troops event knowing that a win would put them in the mix at the top end of the stacked 155lb division.

So far Dunham has rarely looked troubled in the Octagon, but that changed tonight as Guillard quickly established his superior fire power, finding a home for a powerful right earlier that stopped his opponent in his tracks momentarily.

Recognizing he was at a disadvantage Dunham attempted to take Guillard to the mat, but though he was successful, he couldn’t keep him down and the action quickly resumed on their feet.

That was bad news for Dunham who couldn’t keep up with ‘The Young Assassin’ in the striking and eats more punches as a result before being floored with a right hand. He tried to cling on to Guillard to regain his composure but his rival was having none of it and shrugged him off.

Dunham was then badly hurt by a powerful knee that left him sagging against the cage. Guillard smelled blood and swarmed on him with punches and knees before the fight is ended by the referee. The last knee looked illegal but with or without it the outcome would have remained the same.

Dunham, who was widely considered to be one of the best 155lb’ers in the UFC is a major scalp for Guillard, and he’s now on a four fight winning streak and has taken a major step closer to a title shot with this performance.
