UK Fighter Michael Bisping is currently in training for his headline bout at UFC 120 with Yoshihiro Akiyama, but it seems there’s other fighters on his mind at the moment.
After watching Chael Sonnen’s impressive performance against Anderson Silva on Saturday night Bisping immediately posted on his twitter account that he wanted to fight the American.
“I’m gonna beat akiyama the beat sonnen, he can’t do that to me. Come on you salesman!!!!! cos u cant hold me down f*g!”
Perhaps thinking better of the remark Bisping quickly took the message back down and replaced it with a more diplomatic assessment of the fight.
“nah just kidding, sonnen did an awesome job, was nice to see silva tested, thought he showed alot of heart.”
Sonnen is not the only fighter Bisping’s had something to say about over the weekend though. Upon hearing that fellow middleweight contender Patrick Cote had stated his dislike of the Brit, calling him, “arrogant and overrated,” Bisping did not hesitate to fire back.
“Maybe all that horse meat has gone to his head,” ‘The Count’ told Fighters Only. “If he wants to try and make himself relevant again by trying to talk himself into a fight with me he can do, his time is his own. Personally if I was him I would spend it in the gym learning how not to get dumped on my head.”
If Bisping gets past Akiyama at UFC 120, and Cote gets back to winning ways against Tom Lawlor at UFC 121 then it’s certainly not out of the question that these two could be on a collision course in the near future.
Having said that, given that Bisping also wants a piece of Sonnen, is keen on a rematch with Wanderlei Silva, has asked for a title shot against Anderson Silva, and was originally earmarked to fight Vitor Belfort at UFC 120, it’s fair to say that he’s got more than a few irons in the fire if he can successfully negotiate his way past Akiyama in October.
