First mentioned by Jorge Rivera following UFC 122, Michael Bisping has now confirmed that the two middleweights will fight at February 27th’s UFC 127 event in Sydney, Australia.

In his latest video blog the Brit admits that Rivera that wasn’t the fight he had been looking for next as he attempts to get into the title picture at 185lbs.

“I was after a higher profile opponent,” Bisping says, “I asked for Nate Marquardt, I was hoping for someone like that, but if it’s going to have to be Jorge Rivera then it’s going to be Jorge Rivera. I have no qualms about that, he’s been around a long time, he’s on a good win streak at the moment, he’s a solid opponent.”

As has almost become tradition with the TUF season 3 winner’s opponents, Rivera has already made it clear that he is not his biggest fan. That only appears to have motivated Bisping though.

“Obviously he’s said a couple of comments and his manager’s said a couple of comments. You know, straight away saying he wants this fight, he wants this fight bad. Not only does he want this fight, he wants to mess me up.”

“Don’t know what his problem is, he’s just another a*sehole that’s going to get beat,”
Bisping continues. “I’m fired up for this fight, I can’t wait. I think he’s a tailor-made opponent for me and he’s going to get beat. And he’s only fueling the fire by taking sh*t about me. And his manager can kiss my a*se as well.”

According to Bisping the fight will be the co-main event of the show, with BJ Penn Vs Jon Fitch headlining the card.
