There’s not much in the way of major MMA action happening over the next few weeks, but to keep us going through this barren spell the UFC have been releasing some future fight info to give us something to look forward to.
Earlier today we told you that a middleweight encounter between Rich Franklin and Cung Le would feature at UFC 148 in July, and now we’re hearing news of another important clash in that division between Michael Bisping and Tim Boetsch which will also go down at this Las Vegas event.
Bisping narrowly missed out on a title shot back in earlier this year when he fought in a highly competitive, but ultimately unsuccesful No.1 contender bout with Chael Sonnen, losing out by unanimous decision.
That snapped a four fight winning streak for the Brit, but many were observers were left impressed by his performance against Sonnen who’s considered amongst the division’s best, and so ‘The Count’ hasn’t lost much momentum and is still very much in the reckoning in the division.
Meanwhile Boetsch has had a new lease of life since dropping down to 185lbs last year, notching up three wins in a row, most notably rallying after a poor start against Yushin Okami in his last encounter at UFC 144 in February to seal at TKO victory against the former title challenger.
While it’s not been announced yet UFC 148 is also expected to feature a bantamweight title fight between TUF: Live coaches Urijah Faber and Dominick Cruz which would take on headline duties at the show.
