Michael Bisping isn’t exactly short of fight offers at the moment after appearing to enrage half the population of the world with his antics during and after his bout with Jorge Rivera at UFC 127.
Nate Marquardt is the latest fighter to throw his hat into the ring, stating, “I’d love to fight that guy just to punch him in his mouth and shut him up.”
Marquardt will need to join the ever-growing queue though which also includes the likes of Vitor Belfort, Chael Sonnen, Vitor Belfort and even current champion Anderson Silva.
So which of this veritable murderers’ row of middleweight talent does the Brit want to face first? UK journalist Gareth A. Davies has the answer.
“He’s really, really pleased that Chael Sonnen is calling him out. He thinks it’s a great fight for him, and he’s really looking forward to taking on Sonnen if that fight happens.”
That would certainly be a blockbuster fight given the two men’s personas, and could prove to be an interesting battle inside the Octagon as well.
Sonnen doesn’t have the KO power of some of Bisping’s other recent opponents which would be a relief for the Brit who’s chin is still questionable, but the American’s dominant wrestling could give him significant problems.
If Bisping was able to overcome him though, that’s the kind of caliber of opponent that could put him within touching distance of a title shot at 185lbs.
