Strikeforce’s March 5th event has received a blow with the news that the winner of the recent 135lb woman’s tournament Miesha Tate has been forced to pull out of her title fight with Marloes Coenen due to a knee injury.

It’s an unfortunate turn of events as this match-up looked like being one of the best female fights of the year.

Coenen will still defend her title at the event though, as Liz Carmouche has now stepped in to replace Tate.

It’s a big ask for Carmouche who’s currently unbeaten but only has five professional fights, to step in at such short notice with barely a week left until fight night, especially against an opponent of Coenen’s caliber and experience.

The show must go on though, and it’s as good an alternative as could have been expected at this stage.
