Strikeforce’s March 3rd show in Ohio has suffered a blow as co-main event star Mike Kyle has had to withdraw from his bout with Gegard Mousasi due to an undisclosed injury.
The preferred option now would be to keep Mousasi on the card, but so far the indication is that the bout may well be scrapped altogether.
The show still features a much hyped female 135lb title fight between current champion Meisha Tate and Ronda Rousey on tap for the main event however, while the likes of KJ Noons, Paul Daley and Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza are also set to compete on the card so it’s not a knockout blow for the organization.
Meanwhile, despite reports originating directly from their own GracieMag twitter account, according to Dana White has stated that it’s not true that Strikeforce light-heavyweight fighter Roger Gracie has signed for the UFC as we reported yesterday.
If true it’s a rare sliver of good news for the promotion, and the fact that it appears they are having problems finding a suitable opponent for Mousasi in March indicates how badly they need to keep the few stars that they do have on their 205lb roster.
