Reports from Asia indicate that ProElite have signed Japanese star Ikuhisa Minowa, aka ‘Minowaman’.
While ProElite have yet to confirm the news all signs point to the cult fighter putting pen to paper on a three-fight deal with the up and coming promotion.
Furthermore, it’s believed that Minowa’s first opponent will be former UFC fighter Kendall Grove who claimed a quick victory over Joe ‘Diesel’ Riggs in his first fight for ProElite back in August. The bout is expected to form part of the main card for ProElite 3 on January 21st in Hawaii.
Minowaman is best known for fighting a succession of much larger opponents in PRIDE and most recently DREAM where he won the ‘Superhulk’ tournament in 2009 after defeating Bob Sapp, Hong-Man Choi and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou.
The 35 year-old is extremely experienced, with an overall career record of 51-32-8 and has fought a host of stars including Mirko ‘Cro Cop’, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Wanderlei Silva over the years.
