Word emerged yesterday in Brazil that Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and his camp want him to have a rematch with Mirko Cro Cop on his return to the UFC heavyweight division following a long lay-off due to injury, and the Croatian has now confirmed he too wants that fight.
“Yes I saw the comments made by Nogueira’s boxing coach and I agree. I am ready to fight Nogueira any time, even in Brazil in August,” Cro Cop tells FightersOnly.
From the sounds of things Big Nog’s camp aren’t counting on him being ready for UFC 134 in Rio De Janeiro though.
It also remains to be seen whether the UFC will give the green light for Cro Cop to have another bout in the promotion after suffering back-to-back KO losses. Following his last loss to Brendan Schaub UFC president Dana White had indicated that this was likely to be his last fight in the Octagon, but it’s certainly not outwith the realms of possibility that this could take place.
